Tannenmühle - a Black Forest idyll

The Tannenmühle is located on the edge of the officially recognised health resort of Grafenhausen on a high plateau in the southern Upper Black Forest at between 800 and 1,100 m above sea level. The municipality lies in the so-called “Rothaus Land” and is part of the Waldshut district. It’s the perfect starting point for a variety of excursion destinations on your holiday with us. The well-signposted hiking trails start directly from the hotel.

The swimming lake is only approx. 35 minutes from the Tannenmühle by foot and has a wonderful children’s area. Swimming fun for the whole family is guaranteed here!

Schlüchtsee

You can swim and much more here in beautiful natural surroundings. The Schlühüwanapark, Hüsli and Rothaus brewery can be reached on foot. There are also stations for the forest pools.

Schluchsee lake

The largest lake in the Black Forest has its own diving station and is only 10 km away from the Tannenmühle. Enjoy a hike around the Schluchsee (approx. 18 km) or discover the lake on a round trip on the MS Schluchsee. The “Dreiseenbahn” travels every hour from Seebrugg towards Freiburg (free with the KONUS Card).

Pure nature

Feldberg

The highest mountain in the Black Forest is an absolute dream destination in both summer and winter. In winter, you’ll find everything to get alpine hearts beating faster. This includes numerous cross-country ski trails, 35 lifts and over 60 km of slopes for skiers. In summer, Feldberg invites visitors to enjoy idyllic hikes with breathtaking views.

The Haus der Natur, a rope course and a gnome trail are also worth a visit.

The pearl of the Breisgau

Freiburg

It is lovingly known as the capital of the Black Forest. The Gothic minster is in the heart of the city. The old town with its gutters (“Bächle”) and lovely streets is the ideal place to take a stroll.

Freiburg is, of course, also the perfect place to enjoy some shopping. With the KONUS Card you can travel for free on the train that travels once an hour from Seebrugg to Freiburg.

Wood marble run in Birkendorf

Nothing works here without marbles. Your marble can roll freely along the two outdoor marble runs. You can get the marbles from the machine on the Oberholz car park and the Naturena swimming lake. The route is suitable for pushchairs, so the whole family can enjoy the adventure.

Old town & waterfall

Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen

Europe’s largest waterfall is located in Neuhausen in Switzerland and is only 37 km away from us. You can enjoy magnificent views of the spectacle of the 150 m wide waterfall from the various viewing platforms or from the boat. The Rhine Falls are also just a stone’s throw away from Schaffhausen with its historic old town.

Wutach Gorge

The Wutach Gorge is also known as the Grand Canyon of the Black Forest. The various routes with their own gorges and bridges appeal to ambitious hikers. Black Forest House of Senses

Under the motto “Gugge-Mache-Wunderfitze”, the hands-on museum in the heart of Grafenhausen offers countless phenomena to discover - with all your senses. The museum is an all-year round experience, regardless of the weather, and particularly recommended for children.

After exploring the “Black Forest House of Senses”, the nearby spa gardens are the ideal place to enjoy a relaxing walk and admire a variety of open air sculptures from international artists.

Grafenhausen

Grafenhausen offers a range of leisure activities with spa concerts, traditional festivities, indoor pool, theatre performances and art events. The romantic Schlüchtsee is located on the edge of Grafenhausen. It’s not a good place to enjoy some relaxing swimming fun, it is also an ideal starting point for a tour through the Schlühüwana park (this stands for Schlüchtsee-Hüsli-Wald-Natur-Park).

The park contains all kinds of artistic creations and educational stations on the region’s nature. Right behind it is the Rothaus brewery with its Rothaus brewing world and beer trail. You can find out all about brewing in the past and today. The Hüsli local history museum is not far from here and was once an integral part of the “Black Forest Clinic” as Dr Brinkmann's home.
